Education First, as part of its work with the NoVo Foundation, is awarding $5,000 grants to teachers and $25,000 grants to districts as part of its Innovation in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Awards.

Education First is seeking applications for teacher-led projects that foster social and emotional skills in students in grades PK-12. Selected award recipients will receive up to $5,000 to implement an innovative project in their classrooms and schools in the 2018-19 school year. Awardees will also have the opportunity to present their work to a group of national SEL practitioners, experts and advocates at a convening during the 2018-19 school year.

Education First is also looking for applications from districts to support innovative social and emotional learning in students grades PK-12. The organization will award up to $25,000 per year for applications selected for district-level work.

Though all proposals are welcome, Education First is seeking proposals that specifically serve one of the following student populations:

  • Students from indigenous communities
  • New arrivals (such as refugees) or immigrants
  • English learners
  • LGBTQI students
