LANSING – MASA, the professional organization for Michigan’s superintendents, is changing its name to more accurately reflect the composition of the association’s membership. MASA’s new name is the Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators.

Formerly known as the Michigan Association of School Administrators, MASA serves public school leaders in nearly 600 public school districts and intermediate school districts across the state, supporting the leaders of Michigan’s most important public institutions as they work to continue to increase student achievement for our more than 1.5 million students.

“The change in our association’s name more accurately represents our members – the superintendents leading our public school districts and the central office administrators who are essential to the success of our schools and, ultimately, our students,” said MASA Executive Director Chris Wigent. “While our name may have changed, MASA remains as committed as ever to our core values of service, leadership, collaboration and excellence. As MASA has for decades, we will continue to work with our public school leaders and advocate at the state Capitol for strong and supportive policy that will strengthen public education.”

MASA’s name change was approved in January by a vote of the MASA membership.
