As a Michigan school district, you should have selected, trained on, implemented, and utilized a state-approved tool to conduct the required evaluations for building leaders, district leaders, and superintendent by the end of the 2017-18 school year. Additionally, many districts across the state have selected MASA’s supported tool, School ADvance, as their instrument of choice to conduct those evaluations.
Like all aspects of education, proactively responding to change is essential, and this is especially true for the School ADvance evaluation system. Recently updated, the new School ADvance 2.0 offers significant changes in Domain 1, with the increased focus on requirements necessary for including both state and local student growth measures.
To assist districts in better understanding the updated tools, MASA is offering seven Regional Workshops where participants will cover updates, revised tools, transparency reporting, annual implementation steps and review the significant changes to Domain 1. Especially of interest will be the addition of a robust afternoon presentation by Eidex on calculating student growth using the mandatory state assessment results from your district.
These one-day, drive-in workshops will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following dates and locations across the state:
- Aug. 2, 2018 – West Shore ESD
- Sept. 14, 2018 – Clare-Gladwin RESD
- Sept. 17, 2018 – St. Joseph County ISD
- Sept. 25, 2018 – Bay Arenac ISD
- Sept. 28, 2018 – Hillsdale ISD
- Oct. 11, 2018 – Delta Schoolcraft ISD
- Oct. 30, 2018 – Kent ISD
If you are a current School ADvance user who evaluates administrators or is evaluated using the School ADvance rubrics and systems such as a superintendent, district leader, building leader or a non-instructional leader, this workshop will strengthen and enhance your understanding of the system and evaluation process.
The cost for the workshop is $150 per registrant and includes a breakfast provided by Eidex and lunch provided by School ADvance. You can register for a regional workshop by visiting the following website to select your choice: www.goschooladvance.org/events.
