MASA’s Midwinter conference took place February 6-8, 2019 at the Marriott at the Renaissance Center in Detroit. Attendees from all over the state came together in a spirit of collaboration to explore the theme, “One Vision: Working, Leading, Succeeding Together.”

Keynote speaker Peter Gamwell started the conference on a note of re-imagination and reform. He challenged the more than 400 educators in the room to reimagine the way we create learning cultures.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer also made an appearance on day one of the conference.

A wonderful round of MASA Ed Talks on the second day of the conference made those in attendnace reflect on their “why” – why they became an educator – and reflect on the happenings in their own districts. A full slate of updates from education leaders ensured that attendees left for home with useful information – especially about how to handle the winter weather!

On the third and final day, MASA members joined with MASB for a Joint Conference experience. Kim Marshall, author of The Marshall Memo, gave the keynote.
