Lansing, MI – In response to a new epidemic order concerning winter sports for K-12 athletes, Dr. Tina Kerr, executive director of the Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators, today released the following statement:

“MASA has consistently fought to ensure that decision making around Michigan schools was made with a laser focus on the health and safety of students and staff. Today’s decision around winter sports emphasizes the track record districts have in making sure schools maximize safety and minimize the spread of COVID-19. Now more than ever, it’s important lawmakers release federal dollars without cumbersome red tape to allow districts to immediately begin their next phase of planning for more in-person activities in Michigan’s schools, particularly classroom learning.”
