LANSING– The Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators (MASA) is pleased to announce the selection of Matthew Schueller as its next Director of Government Relations, effective January 17, 2022.

In his new role, Schueller will oversee the advocacy and public relations arm of the Association, including lobbying at both the state and federal level and representing MASA on various external committees and workgroups.

“Matt is no stranger to downtown Lansing and the Michigan Legislature, especially when it comes to education- and budget-related matters,” said Dr. Tina Kerr, Executive Director. “Government relations has been a long-standing pillar of the Association and the work we provide on behalf of our members, and I have no doubt that Matt will be a great advocate for K-12 education. We are very excited about the extensive experience Matt brings and look forward to welcoming him to the MASA team.”

Schueller will soon be wrapping up his current position as product owner at the Legislative Service Bureau, a nonpartisan service agency, which is part of the Michigan Legislative Council and charged with providing bill drafting, research, and other services for the Michigan Legislature.

Prior to his current role, Schueller served as Legislative Director at Acuitas, a multi-client lobby firm in Lansing. He also has experience as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Michigan House of Representatives, where he worked to develop education policy and K-12 budgets. Schueller also previously served as the Legislative Policy Director for former State Representative Greg MacMaster and as a litigation associate at Morgan Melhuish Abrutyn law firm in New Jersey.

Schueller holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Michigan and earned his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University, where he was also the Associate Editor of the Seton Hall Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law.
