LANSING – Dr. Tina Kerr, executive director of the Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators, and Don Wotruba, CAE, executive director of the Michigan Association of School Boards, today released the following statement regarding the appointment of Elizabeth Hertel:

“The Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators and the Michigan Association of School Boards support the appointment of Elizabeth Hertel as the director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). Ms. Hertel has been a strong partner and supporter of our public schools, and in her brief time at the helm of MDHHS she has been willing to listen, respond, and aid our members in making decisions in the best interest of student and staff health and safety. We urge a swift confirmation so that the leadership at MDHHS is clear and we can all focus on the task at hand – recovering from the ongoing pandemic and ensuring a safe return to a new normal for Michigan’s children.”
