MASA Announces Promotion of Athena Antonis
Antonis Appointed to Assistant Director of Government Relations

LANSING – The Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators (MASA) has announced the promotion of Athena Antonis to the position of assistant director of government relations.

Antonis has served for more than four years as MASA’s government relations and policy associate. In her new role of assistant director of government relations, Antonis will take on expanded duties while also continuing to be a face for MASA’s lobbying activities, meeting with lawmakers, testifying on behalf of MASA’s membership, and advancing the policy goals of Michigan’s educational leaders.

“Athena is an integral part of the MASA team,” said Peter Spadafore, MASA deputy executive director. “Our members are immeasurably served by her professionalism, her expertise, and her whit. I’m pleased to see Athena in this expanded role and know the membership will be well-served by her talents.”

In the role of government relations and policy associate, Antonis excelled at member services, quickly establishing herself as a go-to resource on policy and legislation for Michigan’s superintendents. Antonis is well respected on both sides of the aisle, a reputation gleaned from her work in the Legislature and at one of Lansing’s premiere lobbying firms. Antonis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from James Madison College at Michigan State University and a Master of Legal Studies from the Michigan State University College of Law.
