Each year, the Michigan Superintendent of the Year Award honors a educational leader who has demonstrated exceptional effort and dedication to enriching the lives of students and the broader school community. This prestigious award recognizes strong leadership, creativity in meeting the diverse needs of students, exemplary communication skills, professionalism, and active community involvement.
Ready to nominate? Submit a nomination through AASA’s Superintendent of the Year web portal: visit soy.aasa.org/nominate. Then login (or create new username and password) and submit your nominee’s information. Both you and the nominee will then receive an email confirmation from AASA. (NOTE: Only one submission is needed per Superintendent nominee. Multiple submissions do not affect the scoring or outcome of the award.) All nominations must be received by 5 p.m. on September 19, 2025.
In order to be considered for the award, the nominee must complete the full application through AASA’s Superintendent of the Year web portal by 5 p.m. on October 17, 2025. Don’t delay, as this can be an extensive process. Nominees who do not submit an application by the deadline will not be considered for the award.
Once all materials are received, MASA’s Selection Committee will convene to review the applications and determine Michigan’s 2026 Superintendent of the Year. An announcement of the Michigan winner will be made in late Fall 2025.
In addition to honors at the state level, the selected candidate will automatically advance as Michigan’s nominee for AASA’s National Superintendent of the Year Award, which will be announced in February at AASA’s National Conference on Education in Nashville.
