Description: Provides for an exception for college credit requirements for an individual to serve as a substitute teacher. Allows a school district to waive some of the training and credential requirements on substitute teachers if the substitute is a parent, guardian, grandparent or sibling of a student enrolled in the school. This bill would allow a school board to employ individuals as substitutes if they have graduated from high school and are related to a current student in a manner outlined in the proposed language. The district could continue to employ this person once the student they are related to graduates from the school. There is no requirement for the substitute teacher to be enrolled in a teacher preparation program.
