Description: Increases penalties for speeding in a school zone. A violation of any law or ordinance pertaining to speed in a school zone by exceeding the lawful maximum by more than 15 miles per hour equates to 5 points. More than 10 miles per hour equates to 4 points. More than 1 mile per hour but not more than 10 is 3 points. A person who violates any law or ordinance pertaining to speed in a school zone by exceeding the lawful minimum by more than 1 mile per hour but not more than 20 miles per hour is subject to a fine that is double the fine otherwise given for that violation. More than 20 miles per hours is subject to a fine that is triple the amount of that violation.
