Motivational speaker Jessica Rector is back with MASA again to share her mission: transform lives.

Jessica, a former TV talk show host and sales producer, uses her company’s research and personal experiences to help people uplevel their performance, while reducing burnout. Through her five-step proprietary process on inner communication, audiences are able to turn their inner dialogue into actionable steps to implement right away. She will give her talk, “Blaze Your Brain: Turn Negative Thoughts Into Positivity, Bigger Action, and Better Results.”

Dr. Dania Bazzi, 2022 Superintendent of the Year, Ferndale Public Schools

Dr. Dania Bazzi is currently the Superintendent of Ferndale Public Schools and the 2022 Michigan Superintendent of the Year.  Previously, Dr. Bazzi served as the Superintendent of Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools. She has also held the positions of Director of Teaching & Learning for Hamilton Community Schools, School Improvement & Data Consultant with Jackson County Intermediate School District, and a math teacher at John Glenn High School. FPS is committed to challenging ourselves and our students, making small changes as adults that will result in big differences in the lives of our students, and having the mindset that all can excel.


Lisa Truscott, Truscott Consulting

Lisa Truscott has more than 30 years of experience in communications, advocacy, and policy development. Lisa’s career began working for Governor Engler serving in a variety of roles including Civil Rights and Disability Policy Coordinator. In 2000, she accepted the position of Executive Director of the Children with Special Needs Fund in the Michigan Department of Community Health where she administered an $18 million-dollar trust fund that served children throughout Michigan. After working in state government for 20 years, Lisa moved to the private sector where she worked for SET SEG School Insurance Specialists. While at SET SEG, Lisa was Director of Corporate Relations, Chief of Marketing and Chief Administrative Officer. In her role at SET SEG, she worked with more than 500 Michigan public school districts. She also served as the Executive Director of the SET SEG Foundation and was an ex-officio member of the Michigan School Business Officials Board of Directors. Most recently Lisa launched her own consulting business. She works with multiple clients including Kingscott Associates, where she is serving as their Director of Marketing. Lisa also serves on several boards including the Dewitt School Board, the Michigan Liquid Asset Fund Board and the MASB Legal Trust Fund Board.


Michele Lemire, MASA Trainer, Retired Superintendent

Michele Lemire served as a Michigan superintendent for 9.5 years (Menominee County ISD  and Escanaba Area Public Schools). Past administrative positions include assistant superintendent (Greenville Public Schools) and Director of Curriculum, Assessment, & Instruction (Central Montcalm Public Schools). Areas of professional expertise include strategic planning/implementation, leading technology/curriculum initiatives, managing state and federal programs/grants, and teaching (elementary and special education). Michele earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Arts Degree, both from Michigan State University. She is a past president of the Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators, as well as past president for the Michigan Association of State and Federal Program Administrators. Along with serving as a Horizon Leadership trainer, Michele consults with districts in the Upper Peninsula and Northeaster Wisconsin regions on team building, strategic planning, and individually mentors administrators.


Brandy Johnson, Michigan Community College Association

Johnson was selected as the President of MCCA in December 2021. Prior to this role, she served in the Governor’s administration, first as Governor Whitmer’s education policy advisor and most recently served as a manager of the Office of Sixty by 30 within the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. In 2010, she founded the Michigan College Access Network and served as its Executive Director until 2019. Johnson also was a policy fellow and college access coordinator under Governor Jennifer Granholm.

Johnson earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Arizona State University and her master’s degree in public policy from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan. Johnson was also appointed by Governor Whitmer to represent Michigan on the Midwest Higher Education Compact and served on Governor Snyder’s 21st Century Education Commission. She has been recognized for her leadership and advocacy by the Michigan Association of School Administrators, National College Access Network, American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, as well as by the Michigan College Access Network.
