Join the Conversation: Reading Now Network
MASA, MAISA, GELN, SEILN, HIL Project, MAC, and MEMSPA members are cordially invited to a special Drive-In Event. What could or should a “Reading Now Network 2.0” look like? How can we collaboratively align and create synergy between existing efforts to accelerate academic achievement for all Michigan children in literacy and mathematics? Please join us and help answer those questions and more.
In-person attendance will allow for full participation. A remote option will also be made available.
This event is ideal for those who are interested in:
- A facilitated, highly participatory conversation about the instructional leadership Michigan children need most at this time
- An invitation to embark on a new networked effort in partnership with MASA colleagues statewide
- An opportunity to shape initial steps and path forward
Conversation facilitators will include: Dr. Tina Kerr (MASA), Dr. William Miller (MAISA), Dr. John Severson (Muskegon Area ISD), Dr. Kyle Mayer (Ottawa Area ISD), Dr. Patricia Reeves (WMU HIL Project), Susan Townsend (MAISA Literacy), Rusty Anderson (Kent ISD/MAISA Mathematics), Paul Liabenow (MEMSPA), Dr. Melissa Usiak (MEMSPA/MSU), Kathy Dewsbury-White (MAC), and Sean LaRosa (Livingston ESA)

About the Reading Now Network
Between 2014 and 2020, the Reading Now Network (RNN) was a voluntary collaborative of over 150 MASA superintendents to establish common early literacy goals, strategies, and measures. The RNN demonstrated significant gains in student achievement which assisted Western Michigan University in a successful USDOE SEED grant application, known as the HIL Project, and in support of the MAISA GELN Literacy Essentials.
Over the past two years, the pandemic has disrupted the activities of Reading Now Network. Now may be an ideal time to consider a new, improved, and expanded version of networked improvement on a statewide basis, to include mathematics.
