MASA offers high-quality professional development programs and conferences designed to help our members improve their practice.

Our signature programs include the offerings listed below. Each one is crafted to support leadership growth, innovation, and continuous improvement in Michigan’s public schools. Click on any program title to learn more about its goals, format, and upcoming opportunities.

Beyond Equity

An 18-month series focused on Social Justice through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (SDEI). Participants explore identity, equity audits, and district implementation plans built around student voice and systemic transformation.

The Horizon Leadership Academy

An alternative route to earning a Central Office endorsement and/or School Administrator certificate. Designed for new or aspiring leaders, the program includes job-embedded projects, a mentor-supported internship, and alignment with state and national leadership standards.

New Superintendents Leadership Academy

Tailored for superintendents in their first three years, this academy features eight sessions covering leadership, governance, finance, communications, policy, safety, and strategic planning. NSLA participants also get a Mentor Coach.

Mentor Coaching

his program pairs experienced superintendents with newer ones to provide confidential, individualized coaching throughout the year. Coaching is delivered via in-person or virtual sessions, email, and phone. NSLA participants receive a mentor as part of enrollment; others may join for a fee.

School ADvance

A research-based administrator evaluation and growth system. It provides rubrics, frameworks, training, and support tools to help districts evaluate, develop, and improve leadership practices across levels.
