As the 2023 year begins and the second half of the school year swings into full gear, Neola recognizes the challenges impacting how each District, administrator, teacher, and support staff member provides student services. Neola continues to work with MASB, and our Michigan legal counsel at Varnum, LLC, to craft policy changes and legal guidance to assist districts through these challenges.
Maintaining effective policies are at the core of successful district governance. These policies should reflect both local oversight and ever-changing state and federal laws as well as the mandates of regulatory agencies. Policy work can be an enormous task, but as MASB’s policy provider, Neola provides materials that will keep the board’s policies and administrative guidelines current and compliant, allowing the District’s administrators, teachers, and support staff to focus on what is most important – educating the children in their care.
The second regular update of the school year (Volume 37 Number 2) will be issued in February and will address a variety of topics that have a significant impact on districts.
Those topics include but are not limited to the following topics:
- Student Assessment (Policy Update);
- Merit Pay (Resolution);
- Procurement- Federal Grants /Funds (Policy Update);
- Continuity of Organizational Operations Plan;
- Technology Update
- Cyber Security
- Web Accessibility, Content, Apps, and Services (Policy and AG Update);
- Use of Tobacco (Policy and AG Update)
- School Safety
- Asthma
