Our state utilities have been working collaboratively with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), non-profit agencies, and other stakeholders to educate utility customers across Michigan about energy assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their goal is to encourage customers who need help to be proactive in contacting their energy provider to determine what protections, funding, flexible payment options or energy-saving tools and resources are available, or to contact 2-1-1 to be connected with other agencies that can provide assistance.
Reaching families through our school districts across Michigan is a key step to ensuring this message reaches those who need help. The attached document provides information important for anyone struggling to pay their bills at this time. Providing this to the families in your district may encourage those facing challenges to contact their energy company for help.
Let’s ensure our families stay safe and healthy. We appreciate your time and willingness to share this information via email, print, on your district’s website and/or social media pages.
